World Class Attraction
The World’s Greatest Harbor Should be a World Class Attraction:
New York-New Jersey Harbor as a Tourist Destination
The tourist experience of New York City and the region is about Broadway, Times Square, and Central Park. But it’s also about Liberty State Park, Jamaica Bay, Brooklyn Bridge Park, harbor seals and blue herons, not to mention a large, well known statue. This panel will explore the role that ferries, cruise lines, educational programs, public art, large historic and educational vessels, and new waterfront parks play in regional tourism and local economies. What can we do to grow tourism and bring the waterfront to the world and to locals alike?
