Society for the Education of American Sailors
We are an all volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to the teaching of sailing skills, and the sport of sailing.
Our four New York - New Jersey metropolitan area chapters welcome sailors of all skill levels, as well as those interested in learning how to sail.
Want to learn how to sail or become a better sailor?
With the sailing season just around the corner, now is a great time to check out our schedule of affordable classes open to the public!!! Learning to sail with SEAS is easy, and inexpensive!
Each chapter offers a variety of sailing classes from beginning through advanced cruising and navigation courses. Classes are taught by SEAS members who have been certified as sailing instructors by the Red Cross.
Each chapter of SEAS maintains its own fleet of sailboats ranging in size from 12 to 27 feet. These vessels are used for sailing classes and are also available for use by club members.
In addition, all of the chapters work together to organize multi-day sailboat cruising adventures; SEAS has organized cruises, including the Chesapeake Bay, Martha's Vineyard, Florida Keys, the Caribbean, Spain, Tortola, the Pacific North West, The Grenadines and even as far as New Zealand and Tahiti!
Throughout the year the chapters offers a variety of parties, sailing events, lectures, education and trips in addition to the regular meetings. It's a great way to meet people who are looking for sailing opportunities or who have a boat and are looking for crew. Many say that the best part of being a member of SEAS is that there is always someone that can help, whether it's explaining, showing or teaching new skills!
SEAS is more than just about teaching sailing skills, it's a club.
Whether you own a boat or are just beginning, how about meeting fellow sailors (and a few old salts)?
