Hestor Street Collaborative

Hestor Street Collaborative is a design/build non-profit organiztion created to imporove the physical environment in under-served NYC neighborhoods. HSC works with residents and students in affordable housing developments, public spaces, and schools on participatory architectural projects. A design-build process can improve the quality of life in two ways:
By creating complelling places, which serve the lcoal residents;
By building social capital through the process of articulating and realizing a shared vision.

EDUCATION
Our educational programs empower young people to improve public spaces in their own communities through hands-on experience developing, designing and building public art and architecture projects in their neighborhoods.

NEIGHBORHOOD INITIATIVES
HSC seeks to expand the role of resident participation in neighborhood revitalization projects.

EXHIBITIONS & PUBLICATIONS
HSC’s exhibitions and publications explore various tools and methodologies for effectively engaging community in public design-build projects.

We are always looking for creative educators, fabricators, artists, designers and administrators to work on our projects.
