Hestor Street Collaborative

Hestor Street Collaborative is a design/build non-profit organiztion created to imporove the physical environment in under-served NYC neighborhoods. HSC works with residents and students in affordable housing developments, public spaces, and schools on participatory architectural projects. A design-build process can improve the quality of life in two ways:
By creating complelling places, which serve the lcoal residents;
By building social capital through the process of articulating and realizing a shared vision.
EDUCATION
Our educational programs empower young people to improve public spaces in their own communities through hands-on experience developing, designing and building public art and architecture projects in their neighborhoods.
NEIGHBORHOOD INITIATIVES
HSC seeks to expand the role of resident participation in neighborhood revitalization projects.
EXHIBITIONS & PUBLICATIONS
HSC’s exhibitions and publications explore various tools and methodologies for effectively engaging community in public design-build projects.
We are always looking for creative educators, fabricators, artists, designers and administrators to work on our projects. If you are interested in learning more about employment opportunities at HSC please send us a resume, work samples (optional), and a cover letter stating your interests and why you would be a good addition to the HSC team.
