Visit The Science Barge At Yonkers Riverfest!
Hudson Riverfest will be held this year on Saturday, September 11th. Come visit the Science Barge and pick up a free hyrdroponic plant (while supplies last) and learn about how we grow food using recirculating rainwater and renewable energy on our urban farm. There will be arts and crafts for children, games, free tours, and samples of fresh delicious produce prepared by Groundwork’s Environmental Food Team.
If you are interested in volunteering and have some free time between 11am-5pm on Saturday, September 11th please call or e-mail Bob Walters for more information: Bob@groundworkhv.org or 914-375-2151. We could use your help handing out information at our Groundwork booth in Larkin Plaza and/or helping with our event on The Science Barge. Riverfest is a fun, annual event hosted by the Yonkers Business Improvement District (BID). There will be great games for kids, information, food and more!
On The Science Barge we will be giving free tours, handing out prizes to people who come bearing one of our special Science Barge Certificates, giving out free samples of fresh produce, and doing our famous "Feed The Green Monster" routine. We hope to hear from you soon and that you are all enjoying these last months of summer!
The Barge is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays 12-6pm. $3 suggested donation. Free for children 10 years old and younger!
They are located on the Hudson River, just North of the Yonkers Pier. For directions, search 99 Dock St. Yonkers, NY 10701. Metered parking is available. The Barge is easily accessible from the Metro North Hudson line. Get off at the Yonkers stop. You can see the Barge from the train platform
