NY400 Dutch Biking
Bright orange NY400 bicycles will be available for free to the public on a limited basis starting on September 4, throughout NY400 week until Saturday evening, September 12th. Experience the typical Dutch way to get around town and ride your Dutch bike to NY400 week events!
In 1609, a Dutch ship called the Half Moon arrived to the shores of what is now New York City with Captain Henry Hudson at the helm. 400 years later, 200 bright orange NY400 bikes undertook the same journey as Hudson across the Atlantic Ocean to show New York City how much the Dutch love their bikes!
The City of New York has embraced biking the past few years as the most sustainable, green & clean way of transportation. The NY400 biking program is a great incentive to promote this growing New York City biking culture. The NY400 bikes will we used in several NYC bike-sharing events in August and during the NY400 Week in September. Later this year, most of the bikes will be donated to Recycle-A-Bicycle. The rest will be auctioned to the public, supporting a charitable cause. Bike & Roll Rental Booth: http://www.bikeandroll.com/newyork/
